The SARS-CoV-2 infection has turned out to be not only a disease of the respiratory tract, but also a potential multi-organ disease, which can cause long-term damage to different organs such as the lungs, heart, brain, etc. This so-called post-COVID syndrome is currently emerging as one of the major, age-spanning medical challenges of the corona pandemic, the pathophysiology of which has not yet been understood. This makes targeted therapy impossible.

With national and international partnerships, we want to elucidate the pathophysiological mechanisms of the post-COVID syndrome and thus develop effective therapy concepts.
