You are right in our Department, if you suffer from heart diseases or have any risk factors for heart disease (e.g. high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol levels) and if you have a symptom of limited exercise tolerance.

We are one of the most renowned institutions for sports cardiology in Germany. Athletes come to our clinic for routine screening examinations as well as patients with a wide spectrum of heart diseases. More than 10.000 patients and athletes visit our clinic each year. Our university department has been accredited by the European Association of Preventive Cardiology (EAPC) of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and we are co-founders of the sports cardiology working group of the German Society for Cardiology.

Target group

Patients with heart disease of any type:

  • Congenital heart defects
  • Heart muscle weakness (heart insufficiency)
  • Heart valve defects
  • Cardiac arrhythmias
  • Arteriosclerosis (coronary heart disease)
  • Patients after heart attack
  • Patients after heart transplantation
  • Patients with cardiovascular risk factors such as smoking, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol levels
  • Patients with limited exercise capacity

Goals of the examination

  • Early detection of abnormalities of the cardiovascular system and cardiovascular risk factors
  • Reduction of your personal risk for further diseases of the cardiovascular system through diagnostics and therapy
  • Determination and correct assessment of your physical capacity

  • Advice on sports and exercise tolerance in heart disease
  • Optimal recommendations on physical activity, nutrition and, if necessary, medication
  • Important information regarding possible risks that you need to be aware of when exercising
  • Individual lifestyle recommendation
